Allergy Immunology Therapy in Gold Canyon
We are pleased to offer Allergy Immunology Therapy (AIT) to diminish inflammation and the pain created by it. AIT slowly trains the immune system to be less sensitive to allergens by introducing tiny amounts of the allergen to the body over time. The testing covers both food and environmental allergies. Due to the link between inflammation and pain, your favorite foods could be causing your knee or shoulder pain.
Did you know:
- Allergies create inflammation in the body.
- Inflammation increases pain.
- Reducing inflammation caused by allergies can reduce pain all over the body.
How does the body respond to allergies?
Every time you take a breath tiny particles from the environment floating in the air can get into your nose and lungs. Likewise, when you eat or drink, the same is true. The immune system reacts to “bad particles” (in the air or in foods we eat) to protect the body against things that are harmful, such as bacteria and viruses that can lead to colds or flu like symptoms. But it can also react to harmless particle such as allergens that it thinks are a threat and attack them, causing the symptoms of allergies. This is called an allergic reaction and causes allergy symptoms such as a stuffy or runny nose (rhinitis), sneezing, and itchy, watery eyes and headaches. These symptoms can be caused by outdoor or indoor allergens. With food allergies, symptoms can be more severe, allergies can cause stomach irritation, vomiting, lethargy, skin issues, migraines and inflammation in muscles and joints.
If you or a family member suffer from allergy symptoms like sneezing and itchy eyes, you’re not alone. As many as 50 million people in the United States are affected by an allergy. Allergies can affect you or your family in many ways that may keep you from being able to do the things you enjoy.
Is Ait Right For Me?
Keep in mind that AIT may not be right for everyone. AIT can cause increased allergy symptoms, such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and hives. The administration of AIT has been associated with severe, life-threatening systemic reactions, including anaphylaxis and death.
These symptoms require immediate medical attention. If you have asthma, it should be well controlled before AIT since you may be more likely to have serious side effects. If AIT is right for you or your family member, you and your doctor at Triad Pain Group will design a treatment plan together.
